Montgomery, Alabama, has been the home of Beverly Shaffer’s Piano Studio since 1978.
In that time many of Beverly’s piano students have gone on to great achievements in the formal music world:
- In performance with symphony orchestras,
- In solo recitals
- In further musical studies at the graduate level.
On the other hand, another group of Beverly’s students are simply looking for personal enrichment and an enjoyable hobby.
Beverly Shaffer talks about her piano students and her Piano Studio.
Although some of my students have gone on to earn Bachelors, Masters, and DMAs in Piano Performance, I enjoy working with any student who has a genuine love for music.
My goals are to enrich the lives of my students by:
- providing them with a thorough knowledge of music,
- providing a solid foundation for those who wish to pursue a career in music,
- and helping each student gain a lifetime enjoyment of music.
Achieving these goals to the extent of each student’s desire and ambition is how I measure success.
In my home studio my focus is on teaching pre-college students and adults, although in years past I have taught at the college level. I enjoy working with students of all ages and backgrounds.
For many years I have taught students of all ages encouraging their growth by means of group classes, recitals and local festivals. I have enjoyed having students participate in AMTA, MTNA and Concerto competitions in Alabama and Georgia. Students from my studio have performed with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra and with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in Columbus, Georgia.
